WHEN YOUR FLIGHT COMES, WILL YOU BE READY?-MARCH-JUNE ISSUE
On March 27, 1977, two Boeing 747 passenger jets, KLM
Flight 4805 and Pan Am Flight 1736, collided on the runway at Los Rodeos
Airport (Now Tenerife North Airport), on the Spanish island of Tenerife, the
Canary Islands killing 583 people. This has being the deadliest aviation
accident so far. In fact, this was a sad incident that happened in the world in
1977. I know homes were jeopardized,
hearts were saddened, faith was put to the test and people had this question in
their minds “God,
why did this happen to my….”.
I started thinking about this disaster and the ruins
it caused and these questions kept blowing my mind: Did these people know that this flight was
their flight into eternity? Did they know their lives were going to come to an
end on that day? Where these men new testament Christians? After all these thoughts, I opened my
Bible to James 4:13-14-“ 13 Come
now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and
such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.”14 [a]Yet
you do not know [b]what
your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then
vanishes away.” As I read this Bible text, I was reminded that
our life is like a vaporizing substance. In the twinkle of the eye, it vanishes away. We don’t and cannot know what
our lives maybe in the next second. The victims of the deadliest aviation
accident in 1977 never knew their lives were coming to an abrupt end on March
27. We too, as well, don’t know when we will die. But, we are assured that we
will be judged when we die. (Hebrews 9:27,2 Corinthians 5:10). Friend,
but we know if we are not living upright lives before God, we will be punished
eternally.(Revelation 21:8)
Ooh, what will you gain chasing after
this world and all its pleasures (Galatians 5:19,2John
2:15-16, Revelation 21:8, Colossians 3:8) at the expense of your soul? (Mark 8:36) Won’t that be a useless life venture? Can
you please consider your ways today and surrender your life to Christ? He
will take care of you and He will grant you eternal life. Christ is ready to
receive you. Why wait, take the decision today. We only have today. We do not
know whether we will live tomorrow. Christ sacrificed his life for many (Mathew 20:28, Mark 10:45,1Timothy 2:6). Why neglect
this great offer from Christ? (Hebrews 2:3, Hebrews
12:1-2.) He says come (Matthew 11:28) and
we will be adopted as the sons of God. (Ephesians 1:5)
How will it be if you die in your
sins? Friend as you have life today, God has a better plan to redeem you from
your sins. Hear the gospel message (Romans 10:17), believe in Christ( John
8:24, Hebrews 11:6),confess
your sins(Romans 10:9-10) repent of your sinful ways (Luke 13:3,Luke 13:5,Acts 2:38) and get baptized (1Peter 3:18-21, Mark 16:15-16,Matthew 28:18-19) and live faithfully till you die and you will
have the crown of life. (Revelation 3:20).
To the backsliding unfaithful
Christian, rise up and continue to run the race set before us. Our God will
always provide a way of escape for us in times of temptation (1Corinthians 10:13). The pain and sufferings of this world are temporary. Our
home is above (Philippians 3:20) and it should be our priority to make it there
at all cost. Don’t lose heart. Stand up for Jesus. God loves you and He will
take care of you. Repent of your sins. It will be a pity to turn back to the
deeds you repented before a public witness. (2Peter 3:20-21)
Though we don't know when our flights will come,
we know if live faithfully and continue on the straight course every day, we
will be convinced and confident to be with our father as Paul was when death comes. (2Timothy
4:6-7). We will be happy when our flight is ready
because we are going home to be with the Lord. “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his
grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all
them which are sanctified” God bless you! Don’t quit press on
till you are home.
